Holiday Training Review

Just a reminder that there will be a different schedule over the holiday break.

Here is a quick review:

Developmental Tumblers 
NO TRAINING OVER THE HOLIDAY BREAK!

Developmental Groups 1, 2, and 3 will have a training session on Thursday, January 3rd from 9:00am to 12:00noon.  Daniela will be away that day taking a course but Jonathan, Jane, and Don will be at the gym to run a fun tumbling work-out for the Developmental Tumblers.

Regular Training for the Developmental tumblers will resume Sunday, January 6th.

Provincial DC group will become Provincial 1&2 group.

There is no Training for the Provincial 1&2 group until Thursday, December 27th.  There will be training for the Provincial 1&2 Tumbling Group on Thursday, December 27th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm and Friday, December 28th from 1:00 to 3:30pm.

Then the Provincial 1&2 group will train on Wednesday, January 2nd, Thursday, January 3rd and Friday, January 4th from 12:30 to 3:00pm.

Regular Training for the Provincial 1&2 group will resume on Sunday, January 6th.

Provincial CBA group will be come Provincial 2,3&4 group.

There is no training for the Provincial 2,3&4 group until Thursday, December 27th.  There will be training for the Provincial 2,3&4 group on Thursday, December 27th, Friday, December 28th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm. The Provincial 2,3 &4 group will also have training on Wednesday, January 2nd, Thursday, January 3rd, and Friday, January 4th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.  

Regular training for the Provincial 2,3&4 group will resume on Sunday, January 6th.

National Tumblers
You do not have any training until December 27th.  The National Tumblers will have tumbling training on Thursday, December 27th from 3:30 to 6:00pm and Friday, December 28th from 3:30 to 6:00pm.
The National tumblers will also have training on Wednesday, January 2nd, Thursday, January 3rd and Friday, January 4th from 3:30 to 6:00pm.  

Regular training for the National Tumbling group will resume on Sunday, January 6th.

Please note that the gym may be closed over the holiday on certain days that we train.  If this is the case please come to the back far corner doors (by the trampolines/end of the tumbling strip) and bang loudly to get our attention.  If you are on time you will be ushered in via the downstairs service entrance.  Please let the coaches know if you need to pick up your athlete before the end of the class or if you have any other special scheduling needs.  Our apologies for the inconvenience.

Cancellations due to the weather will be posted her on the blog and you will receive an email.  Check here first if you think the weather may be bad enough for us to cancel the session.

Tumblers & Tiaras Schedule for Tumblers

Here is the schedule for this weekends Interclub Tumbling and Acrobatic Gymnastics Invitational.  A separate schedule is posted on the Acro blog with the Acro info.  It looks like there are big breaks for the tumblers for no reason on this schedule but they are there for the acro athletes who are finishing up their routines in the same flight. 

We will hand out paper copies to each of the athletes this week.

Realizing that I maybe didn't post this poster here on the Tumbling blog. 

Tumblers & Tiaras Details

Tumblers & Tiaras Interclub Invitational is coming up this weekend, Saturday, December 14th.

A detailed schedule will be posted here this week but know that you will need to be at the event from 4:00pm to 9:00pm as the awards will take place at the end of the evening.

Demonstrators (those athletes who will still be under 8 years old by December 31st, 2013) will be going last.  They can maybe come a bit later than 4:00pm but that will be indicated on the schedule.

All participants, family members, and spectators are expected to be in full formal attire to add pomp and circumstance to this high-end event.  

This event is for the kids.  Dressing up is a fun thing to do whether you are 5 of 50 so get into the spirit and support your superstar by dressing up with them.

Viewing of the event will be as per last year.  We will not be allowing parents or spectators into the gym and we will not be pulling out the bleachers for spectators.  You will be viewing from behind the glass in the viewing area as per everyday.  We will open the side doors so that you can hear the music for the acrobatic gymnastics routines.  We will usher the competitors up and around through the viewing area before and after each flight so that you can cheer for your child.  Awards will take place at the end of the evening in the downstairs lobby.  Bring your cameras for that portion of the evening as we want the athletes to feel like celebrities walking through the paparazzi.  

Photos and videos during the competition can be taken through the glass with no flash.  Photos of tumbling and videos from that distance are often not that great.  We realize this so we will have one official videographer for tumbling and one for acro.  The videos of the performance will be posted on Don's Youtube channel (search string "donaldarchieholmes" all one word) after the competition.  Photos of the march through and the awards will be allowed and flash suggested.

Our apologies that you will not be able to get into the gym for photos or videos but as only the coaches and athletes are registered with Gymnastics Ontario's insurance we can only permit them into the gym space.  We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with the evenings activities as the evening will be about the kids and making sure they feel like they were part of something special and fun.

Boys should be wearing formal attire as well.  Bow ties are popular.  Tuxedos are nice.  

There will be a tumbling demonstration by the Tuxedo Tumblers (the national tumblers) during the event prior to the awards (to give us time to get the final competitors primped and prepped for the red carpet awards ceremony.)

We are looking forward to seeing all of you on the red carpet this weekend.

Worlds Away Cirque du Soleil Movie INVITE

Please note that the OGC Acrobatic Gymnastics and Tumbling Program plans to take part in the pre-screening of the new Cirque du Soleil and James Cameron movie collaboration "Worlds Away" on Friday, December 14th.  

All OGC Acrobats are welcome to purchase tickets from Suzie Owen, Event Coordinator and Vice-Chair of the Gymnastics Ontario Acrobatic Gymnastics Technical Committee.  Tickets were available at the 1st Ontario Cup for Acrobatic Gymnastics over the weekend but can still be purchased. 

 OGC ACRO and TUMBLING families PLEASE send Don an email with your request for however many tickets you would like.  We need to have 100 tickets sold in advance and all are welcome (athletes, siblings, friends, parents, grandparents, class mates, whoever).  The plan is for all athletes to arrive at the theatre with a Cirque du Soleil t-shirt on and a Cirque du Soliel face make-up (if you do not have a CDS t-shirt feel free to borrow or wear something bright and colourful).  We will strike a pose at the theatre and submit it to Cirque du Soleil for posting on their Facebook page.  Cirque du Soleil has sent some small gifts for the athletes who participate and wish us all a great experience watching this exciting and closer than close Cirque du Soleil experience.
