Another National Champion

Jonathan Meehan picked up his first National Championship gold by winning the Youth Men's category yesterday in Kamloops.

Way to go Jonathan!

As well Jack McGarr, Luke Mackinnon and Jonathan all competed as part of the four man Ontario Tumbling team in the wild Team Final Competition. With solid performances the Ontario Men's team locked down the top place. Jonathan finished off the event with a stuck landing on his pass. Way to represent!

Ricardo Smith turned 20 yesterday at his first Nationals. Happy Birthday Ricardo.

Congratulations to all the OGC tumblers for their effort and great performances at Nationals.

ReTryouts

If you are presently in the Tumbling Program (Developmental 1, 2, 3, Provincial D, Provincial CBA and National Group) your child needs to participate in the Re-Tryout sessions as indicated on the May Schedule (see earlier post for the schedule).

Some athletes will be trying out for higher level groups and need to participate in the tryout they are assigned. Those tryout assignments will be posted soon.

First you need to read over this information.

Feel free to ask questions of the coaches for any clarifications.

Summer Vacation Weeks

I know several people have asked what weeks the Tumbling Program will be taking off this summer. Here they are. Schedules are coming soon.

Developmental 1, 2, 3 and Provincial D group will have different weeks off than the Provincial CBA and National Groups.

Developmental 1, 2, 3 and Provincial D will have the following weeks off:

June 26th to July 4th

August 21st to September 7th

The Fall program for Developmental and Provincial D tumblers will start on Wednesday, September 8th.

Provincial CBA and National Tumblers will have the following weeks off:

July 19th to 25th

August 21st to September 7th

The Fall program for Provincial CBA and National tumblers will start on Wednesday September 8th.

The Provincial CBA and National Groups have the middle week of July due to the Canada Cup competition taking place the second week of July. (The Canada Cup is for National Tumblers only, we didn't want to take an entire week off just before the last qualification event for World Championships.)

More schedule information to come.

Tryouts, Retryouts and Groups for 2010/2011 will be coming soon.

2010/2011 Groups will be posted Friday, June 4th.

Parent Meeting MOVED

Parent Meeting for Provincial CBA and National Tumblers who are 12 years old and older and their Parents.

After finding out about a meeting room booking conflict we regrettably need to reschedule the Parent Meeting to Wednesday, May 19th from 5:00 to 6:30pm.

The meeting will now be one and a half hours as we will also be including an information session on Nutrition for Elite Athletes as well as information on Banned Substances.

So again:

The meeting is not this week.

It is next week Wednesday, May 19th from 5:00 to 6:30pm in meeting room A in the Rec Centre.

Sorry for the confusion and we look forward to you all attending.

The Tumbling Program Directors
