Montreal is it's own Country

Did you know that Montreal is now it's own country. As shown here all Montreal'ers need a passport to travel into Quebec and the rest of Canada.

They all have the "passport" it must be true.

Right Jonathan!

Daniel is the best spotter ever.

Montreal Tumblers Came to Visit

Gymnaska Voltigeurs came to visit the OGC this weekend despite the bad weather.

We were glad to have them and training went really well.

As an excursion we traveled into the impending storm to the Eaton Centre to shop and have dinner then. We ventured out into the snow to check out the festivities in Nathan-Philips Square.

We all look forward to visiting Montreal in May.

Hope you like the pics. I'll add some more.

SNOW DAY DEC 16TH

PROVINCIAL TRAINING CAMP

Despite some bad landings during the Mock Meet portion of the training camp the OGC Tumblers had a great time and learned many new and exciting tumbling skills.

The Provincial Level training camp was organized by Gymnastics Ontario and hosted at Futures Gymnastics Club in Mississauga. The weekend involved technical information sessions like meeting with judges to find out what they are looking for, skill technique sessions to develop speed and perfection, and fun stuff like Playdium.

Parents were allowed to come watch the Mock Meet. Cory had a big cheering section in the crowd that even wanted their pictures taken with him after the awards ceremony. We don't even know this lady in the picture.

VaNessah missed the competition hence she is wondering why she is not featured in the other photos. Don't worry VaNessah, I'm sure to capture a photo of you landing skills as well as Cory and Olivia.

We look forward to hosting our own little camp January 2nd and 3rd at the OGC.

GOOD LUCK OGC GYMNASTS!!!

Good Luck to all the OGC gymnasts who are competing this weekend and next from all the tumblers.

OGC TAKING OVER ONE COMPETITION AT A TIME!

DECEMBER 7TH CHANGES

TODAY'S SPECIAL (TRAINING CHANGES)

NATIONAL NO TRAINING
You are making it up next weekend with the tumblers from Montreal.

PROVINCIAL BA GROUP - Dave's kids
No training as Dave is in Ottawa judging at the men's competition. You have a Make Up class with the Montreal tumblers next Saturday.

PROVINCIAL DC - Don's group
Remember you are coming at 6:30pm instead of 4:30pm and staying until 8:30pm.

DEVELOPMENTAL 1 - Niki's group & DEVELOPMENTAL 3 - Steph's group
You are training at your regular time. Don is coaching for Niki who is at the Provincial Training camp in Mississauga.

DECEMBER / HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

I thought it might be a good idea to put the whole schedule on the blog. What you can do is click on the picture of the schedule and it should come up much larger than posted here. This way you can check the schedule at anytime. I will continue to post changes though.

Hope this helps with the confusion of all the schedule changes over the next month or so.

SECRET SANTA GIFT EXCHANGE

We are doing a Secreat Santa Gift Exchange with the tumbling groups this December. Each Provincial and National group has drawn names for a Secret Santa gift exchange. Gifts should be around the $10 range. Gifts should be fairly simple, nothing too elaborate. Gifts will be shared on the last day of training before the break for the holiday. If for some reason your athlete will not be at their final training on December 20th or 21st please bring in your gift in advance. If you miss that last day you can pick up your gift from your Secret Santa on the first day you are back to training.

If anyone has concerns or questions feel free to e-mail me or post a comment.

Names have been picked within groups so that athletes know who they are buying for.

The Developmental groups will not be doing this gift exchange.

Don

Happy Holidays everyone!

PROVINCIAL TRAINING CAMP

Okay, so you have heard that there is a Provincial Level Training Camp taking place December 7th to 9th at Futures Gymnastics Club in Mississauga. True enough.

And 'Yes' some OGC tumblers are attending.

Last year we opened this camp up to all Provincial tumblers as we had fewer bodies and more time on that specific weekend. Unfortunately this year we have some difficulties allowing our entire group to participate.

Niki has family commitments on the weekend of the training camp.

Both Niki and Don are clinicians this time around and do not have time to manage all of our tumblers.

We have 32 Provincial levels tumblers. Way too many to invite to a training camp that has a maximum of 60 bodies total.

Dave will be gone judging Men's Artistic in Ottawa the whole weekend.

It is just too much.

We have invited only the Provincial B's and A's to attend the Future's camp organized by Gymnastics Ontario. There are only three tumblers in the B and A categories and we have decided that as the younger tumblers move up they too will have the opportunity to be part of future training camps.

Since everyone does not get to go to Futures we have decided to run our own training camp. January 2nd and 3rd we will be running the OGC Provincial Tumbling Training Camp. I have lined up a couple of Guest Coaches to come and work with our talented little flippers. Please let me know if you or your athlete will be able to attend by sending me an e-mail or by posting a note in the comments section on this blog.

The January P Level Camp will be from 5:30 to 8:30pm on both the 2nd and 3rd.

It should be a blast.

Sorry that we can't take everyone to Futures. Maybe next year we will be able to handle taking everyone.

Don

PROVINCIAL DC - DON'S GROUP THIS WEEKS CHANGES December 3rd to 9th

I sent out the December (holiday) schedule via e-mail this week and in paper copy to most. Please note these changes for Don's Provincial DC group:

Wednesday, December 5th REGULAR TRAINING 4:00 - 7:00pm

Thursday, December 6th Make Up Class for December 9th, class will run from 4:30 to 7:00pm

Friday, December 7th Class will RUN LATER THAT USUAL I have to coach the Developmental 1 group for Niki as she is acting as a Clinician at the Provincial Tumbling Training Camp being held at Futures. I will coach Niki's group from 4:30 to 6:30pm and my group from 6:30 to 8:30pm.

Sunday, December 9th NO TRAINING. I will be gone to the Training Camp at Futures.

December is very mixed up for my group. My apologies for all the confusion.

Keep watching your e-mails and the blog for updates.

Don

VISITORS

This past week we had visits from two of the former National level OGC tumblers.

Jessica says "Hi!" to everyone.

Lauren says, "I thought there was a Mock Meet? I came to judge! What happened?"
Good to see you ladies.

WEB PROFILES

If you can go on the OGC website and check to see if your web profile is up-to-date that would be helpful.

http://www.oakvillegym.com/

I will be e-mailing everyone individually who does not have a complete web-profile.

I would like to have the tumbling section caught up before Christmas.

I have taken everyone's photos and submitted them to the club volunteers who are heading up the maintenance of the profiles. All I need is your cooperation to gather permission and written information.

Please send me an e-mail if your profile is not up-to-date or post me a comment on the blog.

Thanks

Don

WELCOME TO THE OGC TUMBLING BLOG

Hello Everyone.

Here is a new and easy way for you to stay up-to-date on what is going on in the OGC Tumbling Program. I will post schedule changes, news, scores, results, events, etc. on this blog. Everything gets archived so you will be able to refer back to what was posted if you miss something. I think this will alleviate some of the problems we have had in the past with e-mailing.

I will continue to send e-mails and updates but this way you can check things at your own liesure or avoid printing paper copies by just adding this blog as one of your favourite websites.

This is the first post.

Feel free to send me an e-mail at dahogc@gmail.com or post a comment (If you are an OGC Tumbler or a family member of an OGC tumbler then you will already have my other e-mail. I decided to make one for this site so that I don't get overloaded on my hotmail account, if you need something immediate send an e-mail to my hotmail account, thanks).

Here's to the first OGC blog and the awesome OGC Tumbling Program.

GO OGC Tumblers!
