2014 Indo Pacific Championships Power Tumbling

Congratulations to the OGC Tumblers who represented Oakville and Canada at the 2014 Indo Pacific Championships in Sun City, South Africa at the beginning of the summer.  Here are some great photos from the event.

The competition provided Sean and Ben both with medals: Gold for Sean and Silver for Ben.  Niki and boys had a great time learning about South African culture and taking safaris.  After the competition Niki and Ben stayed with a smaller group to do a promotional tour of schools in the area teaching them about the benefits of participating in sport and especially trampoline and tumbling.

The next Indo Pacific Championships are scheduled for 2016 in British Columbia, Canada.  Plan to be there!

Davison and Swarts to Flip at the 2014 World Age Group Championships

Congratulations to Haven Swarts and Rylee Davison who will be representing Canada at the 2014 World Age Group Championships for Tumbling in Daytona, USA this November.  Haven and Rylee are presently ranked 1st in their Women's Tumbling age divisions.  Haven leads the 15-16 Women's Tumbling division by consistently landing a solid full-twisting pike at the end of her passes and Rylee put herself in at the top of the 13-14 Women's Tumbling division by landing both of her double flips in her new routines at the Canada Cup competition in July.

Good luck to Haven and Rylee as they prepare to wear the red & white on the competition floor at the 2014 World Age Group Championships.

Michael Chaves to compete at...

Good luck to the Oakville Gymnastics Club's Michael Chaves who will be competing at the 2015 Pam Am Games Qualification Event in Mississauga next weekend.  Tumblers have been invited to compete at this multi-discipline gymnastics event at the Hershey Centre in lead up to the 2015 Pan Am Games.  Though Tumbling will not be part of the Games it will be part of this qualification competition.  Be sure to come by the Hershey Centre to watch Canada's top gymnasts and many of Pan America's top athletes compete for a spot in the 2015 Games.

Michael Chaves has also been invited to compete for Canada at the 2014 British Tumbling Championships as one of his final selection events for the 2014 Canadian Tumbling Team that will head to the World Championships in Daytona, USA in November.
