.....and we had some time for sightseeing. Ali is deomonstrating "what not to wear" when visiting Banff in March!!!

Here are Jonathan and Ali posing at the Banff Springs Hotel.

We had a little time for some shopping....... :)

Jonathan and Ali posing at the gym after the finals competition.
Here are Jonathan and Ali warming-up before finals at the brand new gymnastics club in Airdrie!

This past week we travelled to Airdrie, Alberta where Jonathan competed against 16 of the country's top tumblers. Jonathan showed a great performance in finals showing a brand new pass. He continues to grow as a tumbler and is quickly becoming one of the top up and coming Canadian tumblers!

Ali Dings (who is an adopted tumbler for the OGC!) placed 1st in the women's category out of about 20 of the top tumblers in Canada. This is Ali's first National title! Way to go Ali!!

Here are some pics of our visit to Banff, the competition and the podium!!

March Break No Viewing

Just letting everyone know that during the March Break weekday evenings there will not be any parent viewing allowed. The office/viewing area will be closing at 5:00pm Monday to Friday next week. Athletes will have to be dropped off and picke up at the sliding glass doors. Parents/family members/chauffeurs will not be permitted into the club to assist the athletes with changing or gathering their belongings.

If your athlete arrives late they will not be able to get into the club so you must be on time for you class.

If your athlete needs to leave early you will have to arrange this in advance of the class. Understand that the coach will have to usher your child to the door in the middle of class and the class will have to stop for your athlete as the coach will not be able to leave anyone in the gym. Please arrange for your child to be on time and there for the duration of the class.

Thanks for your understanding.

3rd Ontario Cup Info

Here is a map to the 3rd Ontario Cup taking place at the Barrie Kempettes. As well I have added the list of hotels that are suggested by the organizing committee.

If you have questions please ask us at the OGC.

A schedule will be posted soon but you will need to be patient as they always come out last minute.

OWG Post 2

Ontario Winter Games

The multi-sport Ontario Winter Games is one of the most exciting competitions tumblers are invited to participate in during the course of their tumbling careers. This years gymnastics component was hosted at Muskoka Woods Camp. We started with a Trampoline & Tumbling Team photo and then it was on to check out the venue where we found that our equipment was not set up so we decided we would remedy the situation and set it up ourselves.

After a little head scratching and heavy lifting everything was pretty much in place.

The entire team was taken by bus to the not so nearby town of Gravenhurst for the Opening Ceremonies where some 2500 athletes from 27 different sports gathered outside at the bandshell to be entertained by the Stereos, a popular new band. The ceremony finished off with some fireworks and a drive back to the camp.

Competition was fast and full of drama. The 13 tumblers who were selected to go were broken up into four teams comprised of a mix of athletes from different clubs. The four teams were named after four recent top level tumblers from Ontario: Team Smith (Emily Smith), Team Vachon (Denis Vachon), Team Sugrim (Jordan Sugrim) and Team Speed (Ashley Speed). Awards were given out to the top scoring teams not individuals so the dynamic of the competition was more relaxed.

All involved had a great time. Way to go OGC tumblers Kezia, Michael and Ricardo for putting in some exciting performances.

Here's an idea for something to do on your March Break if you don't have anything to do yet.

We will post an April schedule soon so that you can plan your Easter Weekend (the first weekend of April).

Karen is leaving.

I regret to inform you that Karen who coaches the Developmental 1 Tumbling Group, will no longer be coaching at the OGC as of March 14th. We have been lucky to have her working with our youngest tumblers for the past year and will miss her expertise. Karen's last day coaching for the tumbling program will be Friday, March 12th.

All the best to Karen.

Filling Karen's spot will be Amanda who presently coaches the Developmental 2 and 3 tumbling groups. Kelsey will be continuing with the group.
